Pak to pay special attention to IT sector

ISLAMABAD, INDIA: Pakistan was paying special attention to the IT sector, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said while inaugurating a project that helped provide telecom services to over 800 villages.

Gilani inaugurated the Rural Telecom Project under which telecommunication services were being provided to Bahawalpur division, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

Some 888 villages comprising an area of 12,000 km have been connected to this project through 39 communication towers at a cost of Rs.310 million.

The prime minister said that the project will help in education, agriculture and health sectors besides providing a source of communication to the people of the area.
