NEW DELHI, September 9 : Padmini Polymers Ltd. has launched India's
first CD/DVD mastering and manufacturing unit at Sahibabad Industrial area
in Ghaziabad. With this launch, Padmini will be able to indigenously
manufacture and market DVD's internationally. With an initial investment
of over Rs 35 crore, the unit occupies an area of approximately 25,000 km,
built on 4 acres of land with a capacity of manufacturing 45,000 CDs and
15,000 DVD’s.
The technology and the machinery for the plant has been provided by the
Dutch based Toolex Inc, in collaboration with German based Werner Kamman
GmbH. The focus of the company is entirely on the growing Indian
entertainment and software industries. For the supply of entertainment
video software, Padmini Polymers has a strategic association with Samsung
Electronics India ltd. In addition to these, the company will also be
looking to tie-ups for technology.
This new project consists of three components, which includes the
multiliner, the direct stamper recorder (which is photosensitive) and the
offset printing facility. The Direct Stamper Recorder, which makes the
stampers for the CDs and DVDs, has a manufacturing capacity of 60 units
and the multiliner has a capacity to manufacture over 30,000 units of CDs
or 15,000 units of DVD per day. With the new facility, Padmini Polymer's
total CD capacity is expected at over 17 million units per annum.
