Pacific Internet gets Raj Metrani as MD

 BANGALORE: Pacific Internet Limited, a telco-independent Internet communications service provider, today announced the appointment of Raj Metrani as its new managing director for its India operations, in a move that strengthens the Company’s commitment to this growth market.

Metrani with more than 16 years of experience in the information technology (IT) and Telco industries, replaces Raman Palaniappan.

“Raman’s commitment to strengthening the position of PacNet India in the Indian market was instrumental in laying the foundations for its next phase of growth and we would like to thank him for his past contributions,” said the CEO, Phey Teck-Moh.

“With Raman’s departure, the time is right to appoint an India-based Managing Director to oversee the national operations and to identify the fastest growth opportunities.”

Before joining PacNet India, Metrani was director of Operations for Cable & Wireless India. In this role, he was responsible for the business services team on the sales of managed bandwidth, network integration, call centre solutions, managed network services, remote infrastructure management, security services and audits. During this period, he was responsible for off-shoring four key lines of business from the UK to India, increasing revenue from US$1 million to US$10.8 million in four years.

Prior to his time at Cable & Wireless, Metrani held key roles in Business Development, Sales, Channel Management and Marketing operations at Motorola and ASCOM.
