The company's Powai, Mahape (Navi Mumbai) and Pune centers were assessed and rated at Level 5 for 'optimizing' of People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM) Version 2.0. All southern centers of L&T Infotech had been assessed at P-CMM Level 5 in February 2004.

Rajesh Naik, SEI-authorized P-CMM lead assessor, and cConsulting partner, QAI (India) Ltd, handed over to VK Magapu, senior vice president, IT & Technology Services, and member of the board, L&T, and chief executive, L&T Infotech, the P-CMM survey documents signifying the official announcement of the results of the 14-month long value-adding exercise. L&T Infotech is only the 22nd company worldwide to get this recognition.

The P-CMM Level 5 assessment signifies the presence of institutionalized people processes in areas such as staffing, performance management, communication and coordination, competency analysis, competency development, quantitative performance management, organizational capability management, mentoring, continuous workforce innovation, etc. This has several direct as well as indirect benefits in terms of the organization becoming benchmarked against the best practices and also becoming the most sought after company to work for, besides becoming synonymous with immense productivity benefits.

“ The assessment and rating at Level 5 ('Optimizing' level) is only the beginning of the institutionalization envisaged in PCMM, ” Magapu. “With the Level 5 optimization, we have reached a stage where P-CMM should become a religion in L&T Infotech.”
