Orkut opens up to OpenSocial applications

BANGALORE, INDIA: Orkut, a social networking platform of Google has introduced OpenSocial applications for Orkut online community.

These applications, created by third party developers, let one to customize Orkut profile by adding games, music and much more.

“With the launch of applications, Orkut users will get access to more new features everyday, thereby improving the user experience at a faster rate. These applications will speed up innovation, unleash developers' creativity,” said Vinay Goel, head of Products, Google India.

Indian developers have contributed a number of applications and it allows for a more ‘desi’ experience on orkut, Google said in a release.
