A top OMC official informed that implementation of ERP has been a part of OMC's efforts for e-governance and to put in place world-class business practices to manage its expanding volumes and operations.

SAP implementation has been carried out in different functional departments of the organization such as Finance and Control (FICO), Materials Management (MM), Sales Distribution (SD), Quality Management (QM) and Sales Operations in Production Planning (PP-SOP).

"ERP implementation spread across different regional offices of OMC through intranet has brought in seamless integration between different functional departments and regions of OMC," the official further informed.

"It has fostered greater transparency and sharing of data for faster decision making. OMC has become the first mining company in the country to implement SAP. Even mining giants like TISCO, JINDALS, NMDC, SAIL, MCL are yet to implement SAP in their mining operations," he added.

OMC has recently emerged as the largest state mining PSU in the country with a turnover of more than Rs 700 crore.
