'OrbIT' set to woo Hyderabad’s ebiz community

p>HYDERABAD: OrbIT 2001, a mega-event aimed at the infotech community, will be
organized in Hyderabad. The event will be the first of its kind that will focus
on ICE (Internet Communication and Entertainment) that will be hosted by the
Andhra Pradesh Government between Oct 4 and Oct 6.

The event comes in backdrop of a US slowdown and a increasing need being felt
among Indian and foreign participating firms for a common platform that would
help in providing business avenues. Around 250 companies are likely to
participate in the mega show including from India and abroad.

The aim of the exhibition is to project the state as the emerging land of
opportunity with an investor friendly FDI framework.

The exhibition will also highlight the initiatives taken up by the State
towards e-governance and its strength in software service and e-services,
telecom software, embedded software, entertainment technology. The exhibition is
expected to attract around 35,000 visitors and between 300 to 500 foreign
delegates from all over the world.

"This is the first time that such an exhibition is being organized in
Andhra Pradesh and we are expecting participation of around 80 firms from
Hyderabad. As far as the investments are concerned, we have set a target of
$0.25 to $0.50 billion worth business to happen during orbIT," said Cyber
Expo president M Hussain.

The event will organize conferences around various B2B exchange programs.
There will be common keynote/panel discussions and several business exchanges.
CIO Exchange will provide a platform for India's top 100 CIO's in meeting
vendors and service providers. Under the agies of these programs, there would be
further discussions on convergence, broadband, CRM, SCM, datamining etc.

"As part of country exchange, foreign delegates will interact with
software services, IT-enabled service companies and State Government agencies.
Different country delegations would be given slots for interacting with Indian
companies. US has already confirmed its participation for the mega event,"
he added.
