Oracle tops in database management software: IDC

BANGALORE, INDIA: IT market research and advisory firm IDC announced on Tuesday that over 1200 mid size companies have adopted Oracle database in last two years.

It has been providing over 1000 enterprise solution to mid-size companies spanning from financial planning, inventory management, treasury management, material management, HR and payroll, production planning etc.

The companies from sectors like manufacturing, retail, pharma, financial services; education and BPO/IT have adopted the oracle database, said a press release.

The IDC has ranked Oracle as the leader in RDBMS (relational database management software) for SMBs (Small and Medium Businesses) in India with 59 per cent revenue share in Q1 2008.

The report suggested that most of the companies are increasingly opting for oracle’s wide range of products and solutions that are scalable, industry specific.

In India, more than 4,500 mid-size companies have already invested in and are relying on Oracle to power their businesses.

The major software vendors and members of oracle partner network are Infrasoft Technologies Ltd, Ramco Systems, Zenith Infotech Ltd., Alif Systems, Eastern Software Systems Pvt. Ltd, the release added.

“Mid-size companies across the globe and especially those from India, are increasingly playing a larger role in the global economy. Their products and services are helping businesses grow globally,” said Krishan Dhawan, managing director, Oracle India.

 “As providers of complete, open and integrated IT solutions to companies of all sizes, we are especially pleased with the responses we have received from mid-size companies,” said Anup Varma, regional director, Technology Commercial Sales, Oracle India.

“As a result of our close working relationships with our ISV partners, who offer affordable and robust industry specific business applications, we have been able to offer more innovative solutions to this growing business segment,” he added.
