NEW YORK, USA: Oracle is reportedly undergoing a substantial change in its support stance on VMware.

Advertisment

"Oracle has moved to a more positive support stance on Oracle 11g RAC (Real Application Clusters) on VMware," says EMC's vice president of VMware Strategic Alliance, Chad Sakac in his personal blog.

Sakac also adds, "Previously Oracle explicitly excluded support for Oracle RAC — which is no longer the case.

Oracle database administrator Jay Weinshenker also confirmed the news.

"Oracle RAC 11gR2 (11.2.0.2) is now supported by Oracle under VMware," he wrote in a blog post.

However, he adds that Oracle has not certified any of its products on VMware. For Oracle RAC, Oracle will only accept Service Requests as described in this note on Oracle RAC 11.2.0.2 and later releases.
