NEW DELHI, INDIA: During a recent visit to India, Oracle CEO Safra Catz said the company would expand its educational partnerships to another 1,000 institutions with a goal of reaching 500,000 students annually. In line with that commitment, Oracle and ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu (ICTACT) have signed an agreement to train 45,000 students and 750 faculty members across 450 institutions in the state over the next three years.
“The collaboration with ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu for the 6th consecutive year is one more step towards furthering the government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative in the country,” said Shailender Kumar, MD, Oracle India.
ICTACT is a not-for-profit society and a venture under the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model that endeavours to train the higher education teachers and students thereby exercises on developing the next generation teachers and industry ready students.
“We’re excited to give students in Tamil Nadu more exposure to the current trends and technologies in the IT industry. This collaboration will help students gain a better understanding about the types of career paths and jobs that are available to them,” said Sivakumar M, CEO, ICTACT.
Oracle Academy currently collaborates with more than 1,700 educational institutions in India. The program includes educator training, curriculum, software, support and certification resources that can even help students from rural areas to get gain hands-on learning experience and help them develop critical skills in Java, SQL and PL/SQL.
