Oracle, NEC, Turbolinux set up JV

Oracle, NEC and TurboLinux announced they have formed Miracle Linux Corp., a

joint venture that will develop and sell Linux-based products in Japan.

The three firms put up a little over $2 million in initial funding. Oracle

Japan, Oracle’s local subsidiary will own 55 percent of Miracle Linux, while

NEC and TurboLinux Japan will own 14 percent each. Three other smaller partners

will split the remaining 17 percent. Miracle Linux will start to develop and

sell Linux-based systems and provide maintenance for Japanese customers,

"We don't intend to remain within the bounds of the domestic market in

future, and have our sights on global expansion," Oracle said.
