BOSTON: EnterpriseDB, the Enterprise Postgres Company, and Netezza Corporation, player in data warehouse and analytic appliances, today announced a partnership wherein Netezza will be reselling EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus Advanced Server, which includes its Oracle Compatibility Layer, as Netezza Migrator; a software product which operates with the Netezza TwinFin appliance.

EnterpriseDB’s technology operating with Netezza’s TwinFin will provide customers an easy migration from Oracle while protecting their initial investments in Oracle technology, development and training.

Under the terms of the agreement, Netezza will leverage EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus Advanced Server product as a proxy for front-end Oracle applications. This will allow TwinFin to utilize all of the Oracle compatibility contained within EnterpriseDB’s Advanced Server.

“This partnership with EnterpriseDB gives Oracle customers a clear and painless migration strategy,” said Jim Baum, president and CEO of Netezza. “This is a long-term strategic agreement that provides organizations new options to more easily manage their migration to TwinFin, therefore increasing performance and reducing cost.”

“Our partnership with Netezza is a significant milestone for our company,” said Ed Boyajian, president and CEO of EnterpriseDB. “The integration of Postgres Plus Advanced Server into Netezza’s product will prove to be a game-changing event for the data warehouse market and enable the choice for which Oracle customers are searching.”

EnterpriseDB's Oracle Compatibility Layer, which is now in its sixth generation of development, allows organizations to safely, quickly and cost-effectively build, deploy and manage new applications and databases at a fraction of the cost, while leveraging all of their existing Oracle skills. Users can seamlessly replicate data from Oracle databases to support reporting and business intelligence applications, and enables an easy migration path to Postgres Plus.
