According to the press release, the high availability

solution is based on Oracle Database 10g Standard Edition with Real Application

Clusters (RAC). Path's high availability Oracle RAC Appliance, which is

available at Rs 12.9 lakh onwards, is an end-to-end solution that enables a

business to keep running even when a server goes down or offline for

maintenance and upgrades. The solution consists of clustered systems, software

and storage. When a system goes offline, services such as data and applications

are automatically transferred to a functioning system, resulting in optimum

availability. This effectively means 24x7 operations as no system needs to be

shut down for maintenance, either planned or unplanned

"We have increased our focus on working with mid market

organizations and are witnessing a growing momentum for our offerings and

solutions for these businesses, as they try to harness the immense

opportunities that India's growing economy is now offering them. This new

offering enables mid market companies to function at higher levels of

efficiency and to grow at their own pace," said Oracle India technology

channels GM James Thomas.

<>"Though high availability solutions were always

considered to be enterprise solutions, we always wanted to provide one for the

mid market segment. Oracle Database 10g Standard Edition RAC offering has

enabled us to offer an end-to-end, low cost high availability solution,"

said Path Infotech sales and marketing director Pankaj Ratra.
