Oracle opens Hyderabad campus

HYDERABAD: Oracle India Pvt. Ltd, a leading enterprise software company, today inaugurated the first phase of its campus here.

The company said that on completion of the third phase, the campus would hold around 3,000 professionals. The first phase of the facility houses 1,000 professionals.

Talking to reporters, John Wookey, senior vice-president, applications development, Oracle Corporation said, “Employees from the Indian development center have been contributing largely to the global product development group and we are further strengthening this. From a business development perspective, we hope that India could be soon in top three position in the Asia Pacific region.”

From the business development perspective, India currently figures among the top four in the Asia Pacific region. Wookey pointed out that the country, however, is behind Japan and China, whose IT and software markets are larger than that of India. Korea holds the third position in this region.

Referring to leading verticals, Krishan Dhawan, managing director, Oracle India said, “Telecom and financial services are the key verticals. Besides, sectors like e-government, manufacturing, automotive, life sciences are also contributing well.”

Started in 1994, Oracle India has development centers in Bangalore and Hyderabad. It employs around 6,700 employees.
