He added that one common thread among these users was that they were all looking at leveraging existing IT infrastructure, and quickly adapting to changing business demands. Oracle has also put up an exhibition to display its own, as well as partner products.

Kurian said that there is now going to be a lot of focus on grid computing. Oracle expects the new grid computing features of 10g (which is a grid enabled application server that supports J2EE and grid computing, has built in enterprise portal software, offers high speed caching, has business intelligence features, wireless capabilities, etc all in one package) to appeal more and more organizations in APAC because they have to respond fast to changing business needs and at the same time keeps costs and complexity of IT assets under control.

More than 6000 business partners and over 300 journalists from all over the world have converged to listen to top Oracle executives, as they make new announcements, and unveil new plans at the Oracle OpenWorld.

Not surprisingly, there are quite a number of Indian organizations participating in the international conference, which include Lakshmi Machine Works, Tata Teleservices, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Escorts Ltd, Ashok Leyland, Kirloskar Engines, eSeva, Sona Steering, Nocolas Piramal, AP Government, MP Government, Dombivli Municipal Corp, Indian Railways and GAIL.
