Oracle bets high on Big Data

NEW DELHI, INDIA: As the enterprise sector is eying at exceptional data growth to suit business needs, Oracle feels that real-time analytics is critical. The company is optimistic to address the pain points of enterprise's big data needs.

Sundar Ram, VP- technology sales consulting (Asia Pacific) Oracle Corporation believes that enterprise data is focused on business transactions. “Both--businesses and consumers are generating new sources of data in real time,” he said.

The company has begun shipment of its Big Data Appliance, which it launched recently. Oracle feels that volume, velocity, variety and value are the major factors driving the big data growth.

Service operators wanted to know about subscribers’ patterns and surfing interests, and data analytics help them offer well-tailored rebates and promotions, Ram said. “Data warehousing is going to evolve,” he says.

Citing a cases study Ram said that a telecom services provider in south-east Asia leaveraged their solution just to about the SMS drop rate in every second. The challenge, company says, is real time data analytics today.

Oracle enterprise analytical platform approach is based upon graph and spatial analytics, statistics and application integration. Elaborating on smart mall concept, Ram says that retailers are today using advanced analytics to offer customized coupons to shoppers as they enter shopping area.

With reference to competition such as EMC, the company says that their software tools are specifically engineered for it. “We have customized engineering approach and have complete end-to-end solution from application to disc,” Ram added.

Oracle solution is optimized for extreme analytics. For Big Data Appliance offering, the company is focusing large enterprise in the telecom, e-commerce and government sectors. Oracle is also in talks with various government agencies.
