Opera browser faster than Google Chrome?

NEW DELHI, INDIA: With the release of Opera Mobile 12 that promises a host of features, the browser war is all set to reach new heights even as Opera Mini 7 for iOS gets smarter and allows social integration on smart-features devices.

These two ambitious accomplishments are the latest salvo fired by Opera Software–a Norway-based web browser company on its core competitors like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

Speaking to CIOL, Opera Software VP (desktop products) Jan Standal said that they strive to give the best Internet experience on any platform or device.

The company bets high on the final release, Opera Mobile 12 for Android and Symbian market. With enhanced HTML5 features, it recognizes device orientation and beam content through the NFC technology.

Opera claims that it’s the first to offer camera experience on browser. “The new release has camera, WebGL technology, and a variety of themes. It gives faster browsing experience while users can also share videos on YouTube,” Standal informed.

The browser, he said, is easy to use, and can allow 1000 tabs in five minutes. With Speed Dial extensions, users can get information, updates and notifications quickly on home page.  It comes with inbuilt malware and phishing protection.

With Ghostery as one of its extensions, users can identify Web bugs and trackers placed onto Internet sessions by Google Analytics and Facebook, and other promotional firms to collect behavioral data.

Opera browser is faster than Google Chrome, which is under par essentially, feels Standal. “Opera Turbo can compress data up to a significant level, and hence it’s more than twice faster that Google Chrome,” he added.

The browser facilitates search on multiple engines such as Ask.com, Bing and Google. The company is optimistic, and without revealing regional statistics, said that India is the second largest market for its mobile browsers.
