In a crowded scenario of ERP vendors (big and small) in

India, a new entrant is an Australia-based ERP vendor, Prometheus Software Development ,

with its ERP package- Pronto. It is partnering Ontrack Solutions, a Rs 20 crore hardware

and networking company, for marketing and implementation in India. The alliance

materialized in November 1998. Pronto, in India, is aiming at manufacturing companies with

turnover less than Rs 40 crore and at the Indian IT industry with turnover between Rs 10

The ERP package Pronto was developed 14 years ago and has

been extremely successful in the local market with a total of 800 installations, of which

650 were in Australia, 100 in Malaysia, and the rest in Europe, Thailand, New Zealand.

Conway adds, " Pronto is very rich in functionality and provides good value for

money." Having 14 years of presence has helped in this product being very generic

with less amount of customization at the customer base.

Pronto is being targeted at the Small and Medium

Enterprises and at the IT industry very strongly. Currently Ontrack has successfully

implemented Pronto at Citojia Chemicals, a part of the Bombay Dyeing Group in

Surat,

Gujarat. Ontrack is set for itself a target of 10 live sites in the first year of

operation. Pronto for a single location is priced at a minimum of Rs 7-10 lakh and moves

upwards according to the number of locations.

Prometheus Software Development in the next 4-5 months will

be coming out with E-commerce based products and solutions. Ontrack will also take up

marketing of these E-commerce products in India. Prometheus is an Australian $ 25 million

company. The company has resources divided between US, Asia and Europe markets. US market

takes up 50 percent of the resources, with Asia and Europe sharing the rest 50 percent.

The company has been growing steadily over 30 percent every year.
