Information can be captured in multiple ways - by clicking anywhere on a page a user can type or write, draw diagrams and pictures using a pen-input device (with a Tablet PC). The user can record audio notes that sync with his or her typed or written notes. Pictures, diagrams, text and other information can be inserted from a Web site with a reference to the Web address.

OneNote side note, a smaller version of OneNote can be accessed for typing or writing notes on the go. OneNote 2003 also allows users to format and rearrange notes, perform keyword search and email and publish the notes as HTML.

OneNote provides the user the freedom to copy information gathered with a notes application on a Pocket PC or Smart Phone to OneNote. Using the Shared Session feature of OneNote, a user can share notes and drawings with others. Not only this, a peer to peer network session can also be created for a multiple use interaction on shared OneNote pages.
