NEW DELHI, INDIA: OLX, a free online classified ads company in India, has announced that its mobile app has surpassed 6 million downloads in India and emerged as the most popular buying and selling app in the country. More than three-fourth of these 6 million plus downloads have come from Android devices, with low-cost Android devices taking the lead.
The company says that mobile serves as a very big platform for buying and selling products using OLX.in. The company claims that the OLX mobile app is the number one buying and selling app in India and is ranked at 27th position among all free apps on Google Play Store India.
Amarjit Batra, CEO, OLX.in, said: "OLX.in is the pioneer of C2C online classifieds in India. We have revolutionized the way Indians perceive the buying and selling of used goods, and have created the market for it. With the OLX mobile app, we have spread that revolution to the interiors of India."
According to the OLX report, mobile contributes more than 60 percent of overall traffic of OLX.in. The app is more popular in the metro cities and in 2013 the visits have increased to 700 per cent in tier 2 and tier 3 cities as well.
