NEW DELHI, INDIA: Both countries were "operating on stereotypes that have outlived their usefulness", US President Barack Obama said on Monday in response to a question on outsourcing and what India would get from the deals struck in Mumbai.

He said part of the reason he was promoting the fact that the deals were going to create 50,000 jobs was to tell citizens in the US that it was not a one-way street.

"Whenever I'm asked about Indians taking away our jobs, I want to say, you know what... they've just created 50,000 jobs..." Obama said during his joint press conference with Manmohan Singh.
