NXP turns five

BANGALORE, INDIA: NXP, a software provider in mobile multimedia services on Monday announced that it celebrated its 5th birthday.

The company established in 2003 has brought in vibrant experiences to millions of consumers. Its LifeVibes software powers multimedia applications in more than 500 million mobile handsets worldwide, having over 250 design-ins on phone models from major OEMs, said a press release.

Originally part of Royal Philips Electronics, NXP Software is now an established company employing over 200 people. It has offices in 10 locations worldwide, R&D centers in Europe and Asia, and local sales and support offices close to major device makers, it added.

NXP Software focuses on end-user device markets with high growth potential and has expanded significantly in the last three years. In 2006, its software was implemented in 100 million devices that was later doubled to 250 million in 2007, before reaching 500 million in 2008, said the release.

"The mobile phone industry is celebrating its 25th birthday this year, and we share the dynamism that's brought it so fast, so far, since the day we started,” said, Cees Geel, managing director, NXP Software.

"We've built on our Philips' heritage of innovation and consumer multimedia expertise to bring great experiences to life on mobile devices. Five years on, this mission is as exciting and energizing as ever,” he added.
