NRI group forms IT committee

BANGALORE: An IT committee has been formed by the IT ministry, comprising of NRI professionals, primarily from the Silicon Valley-US, to turn India into a global IT powerhouse.

Chaired by IT minister Pramod Mahajan, the eight-member group includes Secretary in the Ministry P.V. Jayakrishnan, TiE Group - US President Kanwal Rekhi, KPCB - US general partner Vinod Khosla, Cirus Logic Chairman Emeritus Suhas Patil, Exodus Corp - US chairman and CEO K.B. Chandrasekhar, Arzoo.Com-US CEO Sabeer Bhatia and Director in the Ministry Devendra Chaudhry as the Convenor.

The IT committee is to take note of IT market developments globally and finetune Indian policy to meet global requirements so that this would help angel investors, venture creators and incubators. The committee swill also promote the growth of human resource development in the IT sector with the aim of creating quality-based education and will also promote R&D in the sector by identifying thrust areas and drawing up a blueprint for action.
