IIT Kharagpur invite applications for free Advanced Engineering Mathematics Course via NPTEL

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank suggests engineering students take up the online course on 'Advanced Engineering Mathematics' offered by NPTEL. The Advanced Engineering Mathematics will be taught by Prof. P.D. Srivastava, Dr P. Panigrahi, Prof. Somesh Kumar, Prof. J. Kumar, Department of Mathematics, IIT Kharagpur. The free online course will help students to get a better grip of this complex subject.

You can also track your performance via assignments provided for self-evaluation. The objective of the course is to teach the participants advanced mathematics. Engineers or Civil Service exam aspirants can take up the course. It will also teach the participants the tips and tricks of the subject. Further, the programme will help the participants use the skills in solving assignments which will mimic real case studies.

Course Pedagogy

The methods consist of lecture sessions, hands-on-exercises, discussion on cases, and case problems. The course first went live on 30th April 2013. There are pre-recorded lectures from the academicians with proven knowledge and industrial experience.

The course is divided into 4 Modules:

• Linear Algebra

• Theory of Complex Variables

• Transform Calculus

• Probability and Statistics

Also, the course has self-evaluation assignments after every lecture. The course is free to enrol and learn. Alternatively, most NPTEL courses provide certificates. You have to register and write the optional exam. But this course has no such requirements. It only aims to teach advance maths of the engineering level.
