BANGALORE, INDIA: Good news for those disappointed cricket fans, who are not able to view the live telecast of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches while working at office.

Now, working professionals, who are at work can watch live telecast of IPL matches online from the IPL website without registration for free of cost.

Microsoft India in association with IPL today unveiled online IPL viewing experience on the official website of IPL, promoted by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

With the help of the Silverlight platform, Microsoft's cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering next generation rich interactive applications on the web, viewers can enjoy the entire interactive video-experience through available web-browsers in the market.

Moorthy Uppaluri, general manager-DPE, Microsoft India said: "We are pleased to partner with TMT for IPL. As the online technology provider of IPL, Microsoft will ensure that the millions of cricket fans in India and around the globe are able to get the best user experience by interactive ball-by-ball updates of all matches on the IPL website."

IPL will provide cricket fans an online experience like never before to access to more than 500 hours of live and on-demand video content, all through an interactive video experience that will redefine how cricket fans consume content online.

Pandurang Nayak, user experience technology evangelist, Microsoft said, "Bandwidth is a main concern in India and we at Microsoft helps users to access the live match in a lower bandwidth using Adaptive streaming, a new technology from Silverlight which enables users to watch video at 150 kbps of bandwidth."

“Users expect more interactive elements in the website apart from viewing the live match from their desktop or laptops. We offer many interactivity elements like on-demand video gallery, Picture-in-picture window, Deep zoom and many more,” added Nayak.

“Users can also enjoy unique features from newly launched Internet Explorer 8, such as Web Slices and Accelerators. Cricket fans can speed up video and image search and get instant updates from the website.”

IPL also provides multiple video streams, based on user preferences and bandwidth, the right video feed can be switched.
