BANGALORE, INDIA: Though many of us are yet to get our hands on the new emailing service by Facebook, the existing blogs and reviews about the service and the announcement by the company itself tell us that it's worth, but not a killer yet.

The 'modern messaging system', as described by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, integrates all the online communication forms like email, SMS, IM, chat in one inbox, which would be suffixed with @facebook.com email address. But as the bloggers and analysts say, an email is more professional than an SMS or a chat.

While Mark's observation is true that the streamlining of all into one would help email users get away with subject line, address/header note and footer note, making it more connected, but this would also neglect the significance of the subject line, which is supposed to indicate the reader about the urgency of the mail.

Also, a lot of users do not add their bosses /employers in the Facebook account, because no one would like to have their party and fun pictures being watched and shared by their bosses. So as Mark explains it will remain a 'social inbox'.

The new emailing service claims to have three interesting features like the threading the entire conversation history as one, right from the first to the last. The second, as mentioned, is the seamless messaging and third social inbox for filtering the unwanted messages.

While in Gmail, the emails of same subject get threaded, but there is a search option to get the entire database of the particular sender. Google's Gmail does provide chat, instant message and updates (buzz) option in one window, but the core Gmail is separate from the other.

Having said all that, Gmail and other services would still stay for long because of the existing security and privacy issues. When Gmail came it didn't kill the big-timers like Yahoo or Hotmail. And the success of the new email will actually be counted after it starts providing access to the existing users. And will also solve the big question of how would the various users of similar names get their email IDs. So far, the urls are supposed to decide upon the user name for the email ids.

It may take some time to connect the missing links of the Facebook email.
