In an email message to all the Indian members of the professional networking site, LinkedIn India’s country manager Hari V Krishnan said, “Last week, the LinkedIn India member base passed the 4 million mark - a nice start to our goal to connect all of India's professionals and make them more successful and productive. But it's just a start.”

The site was started in 2003 and has members from 200 countries and territories worldwide. Majority of the users are decision markers and company officials.

In the mail, Krishnan added, “What's exciting is what's behind the growth - it's the drive shown by members like you to go after new business and career opportunities in India and across the globe. Our members have found that working in a networked way gives them a distinct advantage. With 55 million global members, they've learned that they're one click or search away.”
