The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal.

Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Wednesday that corporate houses including Infosys, Tata and Reliance Industries had sought CISF cover for their establishments, offices and factories.

The security would be provided on payment basis. The government decided to promulgate an ordinance because the CISF Amendment Bill could not be passed in the recently concluded session of Parliament of India, said Kapil Sibal.

"Security is needed in every sector, public sector, joint sector and private sector which have projects of importance," he added.

Now, CISF is available to public sector units and installations like airports.
