HYDERABAD: Netindia Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based software developer,
has developed Piano-Mail, an e-mail service that is free of any plug-ins and
does not require the Internet, modem or even a computer. Chief minister N
Chandrababu Naidu will release the product formally on October 7 in Hyderabad.
It is a gadget of the size of a digital diary and helps one send and receive
e-mail and voice mail from anywhere in India to anywhere in the world at the
cost of a local call. The only thing you need is a telephone. All that a user
has to do is key in the matter in Piano Mail, dial the number on which the
message has to be sent, place the gadget’s microphone on the telephone speaker
and then press the send button. That’s it. Your e-mail will reach the desired
location. It converts the text into specific signals and relays it through
telephone. It can also receive these signals and convert them into text. The
gadget has a capacity to store data up to 27 KB and is priced at Rs 2,000.
Netindia managing director Hari Krishna Prasad said, "This e-mail
service will revolutionize the way we communicate as it will help those who do
not have access to computer. We are hopeful of getting a good response from the
Indian market regarding this product."
