Novatium revolutionizes home computing

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Novatium Solutions, the world’s first managed computing service provider, today announced the launch of a breakthrough service, which will change the face of home computing.

The service will be delivered over any broadband connection though an access device called Nova Navigator. Navigator is a multi OS digital desktop, which provides the user with a complete computing experience for the home.This one device has the capability to replace all the digital equipment that one uses at his/her home today.

“Navigator would provide a bouquet of services and yet it would have the simplicity of an appliance,” said Alok Singh, CEO, Novatium.

“The benefits of this offering will include no maintenance hassles, and freedom from upgrades and virus,” he added.

"The access device is built with obsolescence proof concept and it is easy to navigate and use. With an ability to pay for what one uses and easy payment mechanisms through Nova Wallet, the users can optimize their experience,” said Alok Singh.

The Navigator is currently priced at Rs 5,999 with services starting as Rs 100 per month and Rs 999 per year.

“Nova Navigator, through its simple-to-use and affordable format, enables the common man to use computing in his daily life. This initiative also ties in with the government of India agenda of increasing broadband penetration in the country,” said A Raja, cabinet minister, ministry of IT and communications.

At present, this service is available in New Delhi and NCR regions and will be available at Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata from November 1, 2008.

Also, the service will be starting at Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad from December 1.

“It gives us great pleasure to be associated with an offering like Nova Navigator which has the potential to reach out to virtually everyone in our country. The telecom revolution bridged the connectivity divide in this country. And now this product will complement that, to bridge the IT divide as well,” said Sandeep Menon, country head, Novell.



“We are glad that we are a partnering in Novatium’s initiative to take computing to the masses of India,” said S M Talwar, executive director for the Delhi circle of MTNL.

“Devices such as Intel’s Atom processor and powered Nova Navigator from Novatium will go a log way in addressing the connectivity gap. We are pleased to be a part of this initiative,” said Sandeep Aurora, director-sales and marketing, Intel South Asia.

 Saurabh Bhatia, managing director of Vdopia, said in a statement: “By joining hands with Novatium as video content and advertising partner, Vdopia can also contribute in taking computers to each and every household in India”.
