Nortel to make telecoms gear in India

NEW DELHI: Canadian telecoms equipment maker Nortel Networks Corp will soon start making base stations in India, communications minister Dayanidhi Maran told reporters.

Maran said state-run telecoms company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd will place an order of an additional 40 million GSM lines by the middle of next year.
