Nokia revamps messaging with free push email

MUMBAI, INDIA: Nokia on Monday announced the launch of a newer, improved version of Nokia Messaging with free push email service on all compatible Nokia Symbian devices, exclusively for consumers in India.

The service will be available through all leading operators in the country and consumers will only have to pay the basic data download charges, said a press release.

Further, as part of the Nokia Messaging Service (NMS) portfolio, Nokia will also offer free Instant Messaging (IM) services, preloaded on select devices.  The company also unveiled the Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5, its new range of QWERTY devices to make email, chat and QWERTY devices available at affordable prices to more consumers in the country.

“Nokia’s email proposition offers different kinds of email options depending on the need of the user. The service is already in use by over three million people in more than 100 countries,” said Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president, Markets.

He further said that India is among the top 5 countries for the service and they are confident that with the decision to offer it for free, will see a significant surge in adoption of email and messaging services in the country.

Nokia Messaging (consumer push email):Nokia Messaging is a push email UI that aggregates all multiple consumer email accounts through one client. It can support and mobilize up to 10 email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, Rediffmail, Sify and Indiatimes amongst others. 

The email solution removes the barriers and prohibitive costs associated with mobile email Nokia Messaging is easy to configure (simply in 3 steps!) with the consumer having to click on the email icon and then enter his email address and password. It ensures easy toggling from one email account to another, without closing the existing email account, and without having to go through the web browser.
