Nokia launches N97 with Lifecasting

BANGALORE: Cellphone maker Nokia today announced the launch of the N97 Mini, the younger sibling of the N97.

The device was launched during Nokia N-Tour Age, an interactive technology solutions showcase of Nokia's premium devices and services.

The N97 mini features Lifecasting with Ovi that would open up a chapter of personal and location-aware Internet.

It features a tilting 3.2 inch touch display, QWERTY keyboard and customizable home screen. The handset comes preloaded with three full length super blockbuster flicks's Spiderman, Da Vinci Code and My Best Friends Wedding; 100 track music store vouchers; four pre-burnt games and Nokia Ovi maps 3.0.

Vipul Sabharwal, director, Sales, Nokia India, said, “More and more people today want to bring their physical and online worlds together via the Internet. The Nokia N97 mini is designed for this new social Internet and to help navigate people and places. Moreover, it comes in a pocket-friendly size for those out and about.”

He added that with live feeds, personalized content, Lifecasting with Ovi, Ovi Mail and Ovi Store, the N97 mini provides web centricity to user in a compact case.

It has a 5-megapixel camera that comes with dual LED flash and video light, along with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. The 8GB of on board memory can be expanded to 24GB with the addition of a 16GB microSD card.

Offered in partnership with the world’s largest social network, Facebook - Lifecasting with Ovi is the first application to let people publish their location and status updates directly to their Facebook account from the home screen of a mobile device.

Available in three stylish colors, viz, Cherry black, Garnet and White, the Nokia N97 mini will start shipping in the last week of November 2009 at Rs 30,939. The handset is expected to hit the market on November 23, 2009.
