Nobody messes with Modi, not even Sundar Pichai

If Congress Scion Rahul Gandhi has been asked to tender apology or face trial for calling RSS as Gandhi killer, how can you expect Google or its CEO Sundar Pichai to go scot free for enlisting Narendra Modi as one among ‘Top 10 criminals’.

The Allahabad court, on Tuesday, issued notices to Google, its CEO Sundar Pichai and its India Head Rajan Anandan for enlisting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the image search for the ‘Top 10 Criminals in the world’. The court which was hearing a complaint filed by advocate Sushil Kumar Mishra also directed the filing of a criminal complaint case against Google and its top officials.

The incident took place last year when Google displayed Modi in the image search for the top 10 Criminals in the world. Modi’s image appeared along with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, al-Qaeda’s Osama bin Laden and Hafiz Sayeed among others.

Sushil Mishra says he had earlier written to Google about the incorrect search results but did not receive any response from the company. Apparently, Mishra also approached the police regarding the same, but couldn’t manage to get a case registered. He then approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate, who also dismissed the case calling it a civil matter.

After all the controversy last year, Google did issue an apology letter saying, “These results trouble us and are not reflective of the opinions of Google. Sometimes, the way images are described on the Internet can yield surprising results to specific queries. We apologies for any confusion or misunderstanding this has caused. We’re continually working to improve our algorithms to prevent unexpected results like this.”

If this wasn’t enough, in another similar instance, after the criminal query controversy, Google’s search had also listed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the results for the ‘Most Stupid Prime Ministers in the World’.
