What keeps you excited and busy in terms of freshwater investments in IT?

We have invested in Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions and area also building up a data centre. There is also focus on intelligence, mobile computing, integration etc. We will use technology for connecting remote locations because there is a lot of requirement on that field given the distance and spread between the rigs.

How exactly would intelligence be applied?

All data factors for management would be the drivers. Key parameters like profitability, the way things are going, forecasting, budgets etc would be part of these better reporting systems.

What happened in case of BP might have changed the equation between the industry and technology a lot? In either extremes. What’s your take?

Anything relating to the environment in my organization is taken very seriously. Many technologies are adopted, and they may not necessarily be in the purview of IT but overall and in a general sense, a lot of attention is given to environmental implications.

Do your new IT plans ensure the smooth transition of legacy areas?

That’s not really a problem. Whatever I have built up on existing systems corresponds well with new systems.

Does Cloud computing interest you?

There are many advancements happening in this area and at the same time a lot of hesitance is there so I would like to be clear because issues like security etc still top the concern list. I have gone through some discussion in fact but am still not clearly convinced. May be more discussions and assurances are required in this area.
