No Airtel network on BlackBerry phones

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The services of Bharti Airtel on BlackBerry devices have been paralysed in north India due to technical glitches. The regions affected include Delhi/NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The services have been affected since 8 am today and are expected to be restored by 2 pm. "No mails are being downloaded as Internet services are disrupted, while there is no problem with voice calls," said a BlackBerry-Airtel user Sandhya.

"Despite desperate attempts to get in touch with Airtel service centre since 9 am, I got through with them after two hours," she said. The operator, Sandhya said, assured her of early redressal.

To a CIOL query, Bharti-Airtel said that there is no problem from their end but it didn't rule out disruption possibility from the device vendor side. "There might be some problem with BlackBerry servers," the official added.

''There was no issue from BlackBerry's end. Our servers were intact,'' said a BlackBerry official.
