Nivio Windows based online desktop

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Nivio the first Windows based online desktop was launched here today.

The service allows global access to a personal virtual desktop from any internet connected device providing the users with complete freedom. Nivio also provides variety of services on demand to its subscribers, which includes rental of software applications, access to a rich library of educational content and expandable storage.

It enhances the computing experience by providing a simple, affordable, stress free computing in a robust and secure computing environment, a Nivio statement said.

Sachin Duggal, founder and CEO, Nivio, "Desktop stresses have always been a concern for all computer users. Loss of data, spam and virus attacks have taken peace out of our lives. I have always believed that the world would change if computing would be simple. Originally named myremoteworkstation, I dreamed of a desktop that was anywhere and nowhere; that was stress-free and fault-less. And Nivio was born"

"I am glad that the industry has believed in my ideas and Nivio has already captivated the imagination of many investment bankers and raised over $3.5 million through private equity. Also, the promoters of Videocon hold a stake in the company. The service has a very compelling value proposition and we are confident that Nivio will have instant takers." Sachin adds.

The company also plans to raise $ 5 million to fuel expansion and growth within the next six months.

Nivio would be useful to all desktop users in accessing their Windows desktop remotely through Mac, Windows and even some handhelds would provide them with a real desktop experience.

Iqbal Gandham, chief business strategist at Nivio, said, "The beta testing of Nivio has ensured us that the service has the potential of making it big in the Industry. We aim at registering 100,000 trial users by end of December 2007."

After a free one month trial, the cost of subscription is at Rs 399 per month. To facilitate its usage for students, the Nivio subscription is kept at a reduced fee of Rs 199 per month only.
