HYDERABAD: The National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), a private-public, not-for-profit enterprise, is considering an option to expand some of the undergoing ICTD pilot projects in the country.

NISG is implementing these projects in collaboration with UNDP and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

“Not all of them need to be expanded. We would be looking at expanding only 5-6 projects,” informed J Satyanarayana, chief executive officer, NISG.

He added that some of the projects are nearing completion. NISG would be identifying the projects to be expanded by December-end this year.

One of the hurdles in the country, according to Satyanaryana is the capacity shortage, which stands as a hindrance to implementation of e-governance projects in the country. NISG would be looking to get some funding in order to address the issue of capacity shortage.

“The fund would be raised over a period of three years. But nothing is finalized as of now,” said Satyanarayana.

Besides devising the various e-governance projects in the country NISG also designs e-governance roadmaps for the states program management unit for the National e-governance plan.

“We plan to get the funding in this financial year,” hoped Satyanarayana.
