BANGALORE: NIIT has announced that it would set up its integrated Internet Entrepreneurship Project, called e-Mahamillionaire.com’, in Bangalore that would help Indians start Internet businesses of their own.

According to a release, the program to be delivered by Internet Education, Consulting and e-commerce teams of NIIT, is part of NIIT's strategy to encourage young Indians to build a solid grounding in technology, management and entrepreneurship and set up successful e-ventures. NIIT will make available the know-how, technology and Internet infrastructure along with its software intellectual property to the budding Net Entrepreneurs in the incubating period.

NIIT project begins by training a few thousand young Indians to help them seize the opportunities being thrown open by the Internet and the exploding Internet-based economy. NIIT chairman Rajendra S. Pawar said, "Through the NIIT Internet Entrepreneurship Project we hope to provide ambitious and determined Indian youth everything they will need to get started in eBusiness. We are deeply committed to nurturing a spirit of entrepreneurship and helping young minds with passion succeed."

NIIT, which had launched this program in Delhi in early February 2000, said that the response to the Netpreneurs project has been overwhelming and the first program is slated for launch next month. Once the grounding in technology and business is complete, NIIT team will help Netpreneurs draw up business and technology plans around their ideas and based on their feasibility, move them into the incubator.

The project is structured into scientifically planned stages. The preparation stage of the e-Mahamillionaire project will equip participants with all the skills needed to get on the Net. The project begins with acquiring core skills in technical, managerial and entrepreneurship modules that contribute to building a deeper understanding of eBusiness and its implementation. This phase will help participants discover and identify the idea. At the end of this program some participants may discover that not everyone is cut out for Netpreneurship but they will still benefit from the course inputs and be able to work in a dotcom company or IT department of a company, the release added.

"We would like to replicate the success of having created over 1000 'Brick & Mortar' entrepreneurs. We would like to create 1000 successful NIITpreneurs running 'Click & Portal' business based on the meticulous implementation of business plans and investment in building solid infrastructure and brand equity," said Mr Pawar.
