NIIT hunt for IT aspirants a success

NEW DELHI: NIIT has announced that its National IT Aptitude Test (NITAT) 2004 held on September 19, 2004 registered participation of 65,746 candidates from 113 towns across the country.






Of the 65,746 people who appeared for the test, there were 63,893 valid assessments. The largest number of registrations for the aptitude test came from South Zone at 28,953 while

NITAT helped identify 22,891 individuals with High or Very High aptitude for IT while additional 17,000 candidates exhibited the necessary aptitude to pursue IT as a career seriously.





Commenting on the National IT Aptitude Test, head of NIIT's individual learning business Dr Smarajit Dey said, "It is interesting to note that out of the top 10 rank-holders of NITAT 2004, there were seven women with six occupying the first six positions. This is also reflective of IT as a career option which is completely gender neutral and holds strong career growth prospects for women."





According to the press release, a list of promising IT Professional of the future, including names of those with very high or high IT aptitude will be published and made available at www.niit.com. This identified resource pool can be accessed by prospective employers for their manpower needs.





NIIT will award special certificates to these performers and encourage their pursuit for IT. In addition to the special certificates, the top 1,000 performers will receive Letter of Commendation signed by World Rapid Chess and NIIT MindChampion, Viswanathan Anand. All participants will receive a score card providing detailed assessment of their IT aptitude, personalized feedback and counseling.
