Professor Negroponte founded the famed Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Laboratory in 1985, where he is the Jerome B. Wiesner Professor of Media Technology. MIT Media Laboratory focuses on research in the future of IT in human life. It is supported by more than 160 companies around the world and has helped in the development of digital video and multimedia.

Professor Negroponte currently is the chairman of 2B1 Foundation, an organization dedicated to creating a world community focused on building an imaginative, global network of all the world's children.

He is also an Internet philanthropist and educator, and would be helping launch this fall's worldwide MIT Junior Summit, where thousands of youngsters will discuss world issues via the Internet. The digital revolution is over. We now live in a digital civilization, says Professor Negroponte.

During his speeches, he connects the two varied worlds of bytes and atoms in such simplistic manner that a common man also begins to see the meaning in it. Of course, he is also as popular among the CEOs of IT companies, the world over.

The seminar, held in Mumbai, was organised by Trade Fairs and Conferences International and was co-sponsored by Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services and TMG.
