This will be provided software free of cost, and BIPL is the fourth donor under the NASSCOM Foundation’s BiG Tech programme, along with software giant Microsoft, Eagle Net and Bytes of Learning.

The BUSY software is designed to help NGOs ensure better funds accountability, efficient management systems and greater on-the-ground impact. NGOs can also leverage BUSY for training rural youth and creating opportunities for those who cannot afford the expensive accounting courses currently being offered in private institutes, says a release.

Till date over 1620 products worth Rs.27.80 million have been donated. BiG Tech has reached over 138 districts across 22 states in India.

Speaking about NASSCOM Foundation’s role, Rufina Fernandes, CEO said, “The BUSY software can help NGOs in ensuring better funds accountability, efficient management systems and ultimately greater on-the-ground impact. Additionally NGOs can also leverage BUSY for training rural youth and creating opportunities for those who cannot afford the expensive accounting courses currently being offered in private institutes."

BUSY is an Integrated Business Accounting Software that covers Financial Accounting (Multi-Currency), Multi-location Inventory, Delivery Challan, Order Processing, Invoicing (Fully User-configurable), Document Printing, Statutory Reports (Sales Tax, VAT, Excise, Service Tax, TDS, FBT) and MIS. It is claimed as one of the leading accounting and inventory software in India with over 50,000 installations and about three lakh users worldwide.

The alternatives for accounting packages that are available come at a higher cost for these NGOs who could save these monies and utilize the same in their developmental work. Apart from the pricing, the learning curve for other accounting softwares is also steep as it requires professional / vocational courses by the software company. In comparison, BUSY product expertise can be gained in couple of weeks and requires only basic accounting skills as a pre-requisite.
