Tata Infotech introduces C# course

NEW DELHI: Tata Infotech Education has introduced C sharp (C#) programme

based on the .NET technology platform of Microsoft for software professionals.

The programme introduces concepts of the .NET platform, Windows 2000 followed by

details on C#.



C# is a modern, object oriented development language that enables programmers to
build solutions for the .NET platform quickly and easily. The framework provided

by .NET allows C# programmers to develop Web services that are available from

any application running on any platform. .NET is a mix of technologies,

standards and development tools and is a new platform for developing and running

software systems for windows platform. The C# program offered by Tata Infotech

is targeted at professionals in the IT industry and professionals from other

streams who want to update and build applications on the .NET platform. The

duration of the programme is 106 hours and is priced at Rs 11,900.- CNS

VA Linux sees lower-than-expected Q3 revenues

FREMONT: VA Linux Systems, a supplier of products and services for the Linux

computer operating systems, on Thursday warned it will report

lower-than-expected third quarter revenues amid slow demand in its sector.



The Fremont, Calif.-based company said it expects to report a pro forma
third-quarter net loss of 39 cents to 41 cents per share on revenues of $18

million to $20 million. The company had previously indicated it expected to

report revenues for the quarter of below $30 million.



"While we are seeing some signs that demand is improving for our consulting
services and Open Source Development Network, the slowdown in customer IT

purchasing continues to impact systems sales," said VA Linux Systems Chief

Asian CERC plans software center



JAIPUR: Asian CERC Information Technology Ltd, a Bangalore based software
company plans to set up a software development center in Jaipur soon. Giving

this information here at a press conference, Company's Executive Director Sanjay

Gupta said that the company has already approached Rajasthan State Industrial

Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO)-the nodal agency of the

State for industrial development. "The response has been encouraging from

the State Government", he said and added that the Jaipur center will

develop software for domestic as well as export market. Meanwhile, software

excellence training program (SETP) launched last year by Asian CERC in

collaboration with Malviya Regional Engineering College (MREC), Jaipur has shown

remarkable results. Ashwini Sharma, CEO Asian CERC said that initially the

course was planned for a period of one year. However, the students at the end of

six months itself have been offered jobs by software majors.

Caltiger.com launches Net CTV



KOLKATA: Kolkata based Caltiger.com an Internet service provider has
launched Net color television (NetCTV) services to enable its subscribers to

view full motion micro-duration features on the Internet. The technology that is

being introduced allows the features to be viewed with TV like clarity on a 28.8

kbps modem.

"This is the beginning of the convergence of TV and Internet in a

meaningful way. This allows corporates to flash their messages and commercials

to the surfers. With initiatives such as these I am sure we would see an

increase in Net advertising," said, Caltiger.com executive director Dhruv

Sharma. With the launch of the freeinstaller ver 3.0 by Caltiger.com subscribers

would be able to access the Internet faster and watch streaming videos on Net

TV. During the authentication process of up to 30 seconds the Net CTV drops down

on the surfers screen and they are then able to watch commercials and snippets.

Cyberstar brings Gigabyte to India



NEW DELHI: Cyberstar Infocom has tied up with Taipei-based Gigabyte
Technology to become the national distributor of its motherboards as well as the

VGA cards. As a tier one motherboard supplier to many multi-national and

regional corporations, Gigabyte has developed the world's first DDR AMD based

motherboard and was one of the first to enter the market with Intel P4

motherboards.



The official declaration of the tie up, which happened a fortnight ago, adds
motherboards to the product line of Cyberstar. "We are looking at becoming

the one stop shop, where our customers can get in the whole of computer, rather

than going to others for motherboards," explained Rajiv Sood, Director

(India Operations), Cyberstar.



Cyberstar has been the successful distributor of Quantum hard disk drives as
well as Creative range of products. It has its offices in Delhi, Mumbai,

Bangalore, Chennai, NOIDA, Lucknow, Kanpur and Jaipur.


Data Infosys to set up software park

JAIPUR: Data Infosys Ltd (DIL) an Internet service provider (ISP) in Rajasthan

has drawn out ambitious developmental plans. The company plans to set up a
software park for offshore development., DIL chief executive officer, Ajay Data,

said, "The company also plans to set up a 2-way VSAT hub to provide two way

dedicated communication services. The total investment on expansion plan is

estimated at around Rs 5.5 crore, which includes setting up of an earth station

for which Government has already given in principal clearance".

Jataayu sets up US Subsidiary-Jataayu Software Inc



BANGALORE:Jataayu Software, a leading Wireless Internet company, has
floated its wholly owned subsidiary in the US, Jataayu Software Inc. The

charter for the US entity is to undertake sales, marketing and customer

support services activities, besides the development of future wireless

products and solutions.



Jataayu Software managing director, Mahesh Jain, said, "The US office is
