“We have doubled our manufacturing capacity in India with the second factory in Bangalore being set up. Ninety per cent of the products and devices manufactured here are exported and the remaining 10 per cent is supplied to the domestic market, largely to the Indian space agency,” Brent Robinson, Rakon's managing director and chief executive officer told CyberMedia News in Mumbai.

“With the growth of infrastructure and telecommunications in India, we are ramping up our business in the domestic market. We see new opportunities here and are looking at around $25 million business from India in the current year,” he said.

Robinson was unable to share details about the new manufacturing unit but said that in the domestic market, on the telecommunication front, the company has bagged Nokia Siemens Network as a client.

Auckland-based Rakon has a joint venture with Bangalore's Centum Electronics for designing and manufacturing of high-tech electronics modules, sub-systems and frequency control products. There are over 300 people working at the manufacturing units in India.

Rackon has manufacturing operations in New Zealand, China, France and the United Kingdom too
