MUMBAI, INDIA: CA Technologies today announced the addition of new features and functionality to CA Access Control that the company says will help customers address critical needs of Privileged Identity Management by centrally controlling, monitoring, and auditing privileged users and providing temporary privileged access across servers, applications and devices – all from a single management console.

A CA release said that most IT organizations have privileged user accounts for their IT administrators, which give them extensive access to IT systems. However, the inability to properly control and audit privileged access can create a serious security threat -- as the number of widely reported insider breaches over the past 18 months has shown. CA Technologies continues to leverage more than 30 years of experience controlling privileged users on distributed systems like UNIX/Linux and Windows — and now further extends that expertise into the Privileged Identity Management market.

“The 2010 Data Breach Investigations Report conducted by the Verizon RISK team and United States Secret Service suggests that the misuse of privileged administrator credentials is the single largest cause of insider data breaches,” said Nimrod Vax, senior director, CA Technologies, Security. “We have been helping our customers control administrator activity for many years. This new release extends the capabilities CA Access Control offers to help further secure the use of privileged accounts within applications, and address the growing security and compliance needs for privileged user monitoring.”
