New mobile payment service, Orange Cash

MUNICH, GERMANY: Orange, a mobile operator in France, says it has chosen Wirecard as its partner for the launch in France of its new mobile payment service "Orange Cash" in partnership with Visa.

As part of the strategic alliance, Wirecard will provide the technical platform needed to manage the mobile payment application. This allows consumers to pay just with the mobile handset at any contactless POS terminal.

As a technical service provider for mobile payment solutions, Wirecard is supplying Orange with an end-to-end technical eco-system for mobile payments: Wirecard operates the technical platform for issuing and provisioning of virtual Visa cards onto NFC-enabled SIM cards. In addition, Wirecard is providing the entire technical infrastructure for managing and adding funds to stored-value-accounts with a credit card and bank transfers.

As a member of Visa Europe, Wirecard Card Solutions Ltd. is the card-issuer managing the consumer accounts. Orange will also use Wirecard's mobile loyalty and couponing platform to launch mobile value-added services. All of the functions of Orange Cash are combined in an intuitive smartphone application developed by Wirecard.
