New integrated receiver platform from Microtune

LONDON: In what could lead to the production of a new breed of well integrated receiver products for the digital TV and cable TV markets, a tiny technology platform has been given shape to by Microtune.

Christened MicroCeive, the new low cost tech platform has been dubbed by industry analysts as a breakthrough radio frequency analog and digital signal processing system that comes packaged in a single chip. It, in fact, brings together RF analog and digital signal processing capabilities in a single chip.

Employing the RF-to-baseband technology, the new technology platform would offer the new platform is expected to snip designers' development time and production costs. It would also capable of helping customers create consumer products that span multiple applications, product lines and international television reception standards for global markets.

Microtune is expected to unveil the new platform in a few days from now. The technology will be deployed among cable and digital TV chips, based on the company’s MicroCeive system. According to the company, “the architecture for a new family of fully integrated front-end receivers that will bring low cost, miniature footprints and excellent signal reception quality to manufacturers creating next-generation digital televisions, set-top boxes, cable entertainment hubs and IP video electronics.”

It would deploy internal algorithms that optimize key functions continuously across the receive chain to achieve the highest-quality demodulated output, said an EETimes report on the new low-cost tech platform from Microtune.
