New man at the helm at Cisco

BANGALORE: Cisco Systems, Inc. has appointed Mr. Rangnath (Rangu) Salgame as President of its India and SAARC region (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). Mr. Salgame is an accomplished chief executive with over fifteen years of leadership experience in the technology and telecommunications industries. Mr. Salgame will report directly to Mr. Owen Chan, Vice President for Cisco's Asia Operations.

"We are very pleased that Rangu will be joining Cisco to lead our India team. He is a seasoned business leader with a solid track record in opening new markets and scaling operations. We are entering a new phase in India as telecom operators start to deploy next-generation networks based on Internet Protocol (IP) and as enterprises continue to invest in robust communication infrastructures. Rangu's extensive global experience in the telecommunications industry as well as in the enterprise markets will be invaluable in driving Cisco's growth," said Mr. Chan.
