BARCELONA, SPAIN: The Mobile World Congress 2014 was witness to unveiling of new gadgets by multiple vendors. The new gadgets being shownoff for the first time included the Samsung S5 and new werable devices from Huawei.

Samsung S5: Samsung unveiled its latest flagship smartphone and chief rival to iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S.

The water proof and dust proof device will come witha 5.1 inch super AMOLED full HD screen that features and adaptive display that adjusts according to the amount of outside light. The camera meanwhile has the quickst auto focus function of any smartphone at 0.3 seconds.

This metal bodied device is powered by a 2.5 GHz quadcore processor. and has a user interface that has been simplified, with large icons and shortcuts for favourite apps.

The S5 has a 2,800mAh battery that supports 10 hours of web browzing or LTE or 12 hours of video playback. Its Ultra Power Saving Mode can make the phone last for 24 hours on standby when it has just 10 percent battery left by turning off non-essential functions.

LG F70: LG announed a new smartphone, which, according to LG, is "expected to appeal to millions of LTE customers around the world".

The F70, which was unvieled for the fir 4.5 nchst time at the Congress , has WVGA screen, GHz quadcore processor, and is powered by Android4.4 kitKat. It has a 5 mega

Huawei wearables: Huawei entered the wearables fray with its TalkBrand smartbrand, which is launched in conjunction with its MediaPad X1 phablet. The 7-inch Android-based MediaPad X1 has a 1.6GHz quadcore processor and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and supports both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE technology.

The TalkBrand pairs with the X1 via Bluetooth and provides health and fitness data as well as the ability conduct phone calls with detachable ear piece. The Media Pad X1 is set to cost 399 Euros, with the talk brand priced at 99 Euros.

Nokia: Nokia lifted the veil on a family of affordable smartphones powered by a variant of Android.The Fiannnish phone maker announced three new handsets targetted mainly at emerging markets - the X, X+ XL - which Stephen Elop, EVP, Nokia Devices and Services describes as "running Android apps with Nokia's user experience and a wide array of Microsoft services.

Nokia also annousnced new affordable handsets from its existing stable - the Nokia 220 and Asha 230 - which will come on the market at 2 Euros and 45 Euros respectively.

Samsung Gear: Samsung announced its new warable devices Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit. The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are both one millimeter thinner than the original Gear. The 2.0 Megapixel camera is now located in the watch body instead of the strap, and Samsung added an IrLED sensor so users can control their TVs and set top boxes via the Samsung WatchON Remote application.

The new dual core processor is a little faster at 1 Ghz than the previous one (800 mhz).The display and the memory capabilities remain the same: a 1.63" super AMOLED featuring a 320×320 resolution, 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal storage.

Samsung has chosen the Tizen operating system for the devices. Both the smart watches wil be compatiable with more than a dozen Samsung Galaxy smartphones at lauch, the company said.the devises will be availble worldwide from April.
