New Asia-Pacific chief at Avnet Technology

TEMPE, ARIZONA: Avnet Technology Solutions, a $4.8 billion operating group of technology sales and marketing group Avnet, Inc., has announced the appointment of K.P. Tang as president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Asia Pacific, effective immediately.

In his new role, Tang will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of Avnet's computing business in the region, including overseeing day-to-day operations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India and ASEAN.

Avnet's technology solutions operating group has two divisions in the region: Avnet Computing Components, a provider of AMD and complementary technology products, information and services with headquarters in Hong Kong; and Avnet Partner Solutions, a value-added distributor of enterprise software, storage and servers with headquarters in Sydney.

Tang has had a distinguished career, most recently serving as vice president of Asia Business Development and Sales for Celestica, Inc., a global provider of electronics manufacturing services with operations in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

His career also includes more than 30 years with IBM in the United States, Hong Kong, China and Japan. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
